This picture was taken on June 9, 2010, the last day of school for the term before a big holiday for the World Cup. All the staff and learners who had soccer jerseys wore them that day and also brought vuvuzelas (a traditional South African soccer horn, for celebrating games). They gathered everyone in front of the World Cup-themed mural that I, my wife, and our Art Club painted a few weeks before to close out the school term and make way for the World Cup. My wife Lora, is squeezed back into the crowd and I got cut off in the picture to the left, standing next to our school's principal and the rest of the staff. I think this picture is great because you can sense the excitement of the impending World Cup even in the rural areas of South Africa and you can see that everyone is united for Bafana Bafana!
