The four Peace Corps volunteers in my little Romanian mountain town of Balan teamed up for a middle school English club, "English Friendship Club" as named by the students. We hosted weekly meetings and a once-a-month themed party. In February, 2008, our theme was Hawaii and we taught the students the hula, wrote their names in Hawaiian, cracked open two fresh coconuts and generally had a wonderful time in crepe-paper leis and toilet paper grass skirts. They had some sad lives with most their parents working in other countries so to see them so happy at this party was a wonderful thing.
