I took this photo one evening as I was walking home. It was taken in February of 2006, in the pueblo of Miramar where I lived. Miramar is a small agricultural town located on the River Chira in Paita, Piura, Peru -- the northern coastal region of Peru.
The two men are tying down the boat after a day of ferrying people to and from destinations across the river. During the peak of the rainy season the river grows to a point where it becomes unnavigable for several days.
