President Sekou Toure is departing Macenta, Guinea, after having addressed the crowd. The Govenor of the Macenta Distirct generously had invited us to sit in the stands, and I took the photo from that postion.
President Sekou Toure was the first President of Guinea. Guinea was the first former French colony to gain independence, and it set the stage for all others. Sekou Toure was a leader in that effort, and he has his place in African history. He served as President from 1957 through 1984.
