It turns out that sickness is caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites -- not drinking cold soda! Residents of the small, marginalized community map the routes of contamination. This workshop is part of an Integrated Household Sanitation Project organized by Water and Sanition Volunteer Tasha Prados and Community President Jose Palacios. The residents will also be trained on Handwashing and Home Water Treatment, Solid Waste Management, and Deforrestation. They will plant 60 trees. The women who cook on an open fire will build improve cookstoves, which improve respiratory health and reduce firewood consumption. Those who defecate in the open field will build bathrooms.
