This photo was taken at the community library in Burkina Faso on June 4, 2013. A reading daycamp was held for third grade students. The day included individual and small group reading time, a large group story using a pop-up book about animals that live in ocean (as shown in the photo), a craft project, singing and dancing, word games (like a spelling bee and hangman), a lesson on Malaria prevention, puzzles, an introduction to "What is a library and who can use it?", and more. The children were thrilled to spend the day reading books -- and they were both shocked and amazed to learn about things they never knew existed, like the dolphins shown in the photo, jellyfish, and whales. The library is a new addition to the community, with its doors first opening to the public in January 2013.
