This is a photo from a caravan style publicity parade for an event with the CECOJE (Center for youth counseling and peer education - particularly surrounding health) in Mamou, Guinea, that I and my partner organization Population Services International were supporitng/sponsoring. The event later that night showcased everything from hip-hop dances about condom usage, to traditional dances highlight acceptance and understanding. The CECOJE members wore t-shirts highlighting HIV and PH slogans and the rid ribbon symbol, and along with passing out flyers about the event, passed out condoms. The caravan included Peace Corps volunteers and CECOJE peer educators, as we traveled around Mamou on motorcycles, and in a taxi with a large speaker system and generator strapped to it. We stoppped in areas around Mamou, and started dance and drumming circles with members of a handicapped dance troop to drum up support and excitement about the event as well as the organizations and their related work.
