This photo was taken on February 15, 2012 at the HoHoe Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World) in the Volta Region, Ghana. Twenty junior high girls from villages where Volunteers work joined with seven high school girl leaders for a week long camp put on by Volunteers. Many of the activities included HIV education and stigma reduction. Here, the girls are playing with blown up condoms after learning and performing condom demonstrations. For many of them, this was the first time they had seen or touched a condom. As the camp went on, the girls became more and more comfortable asking questions about sex, HIV, condoms, etc. This event was my favorite activity in my whole Peace Corps service.
