This photo was taken in 2009 at the Clay House Project in Namibia. The project built subsidized clay houses and environmentally friendly toilets that did not require running water or electricity. I was lucky enough to live in one of the volunteer housing units and learn about its contribution to the poor in Namibia. This photo shows an 'extracurricular' interest of the German manager of the project. He believed strongly in supporting pre-school education and provided support for local pre-schools in terms of materials, teaching methods, and this wonderful, happy experience for kids that would probably never see a swimming pool or a beach. The pool was near my flat and the music of their squeals and laughter was too beautiful for words.
