Photo Description	Joe Jauregui pictured with the St. Martin basketball team. Basketball was introduced by Peace Corps Volunteers in upcountry Liberia prior to my arrival. It had been popular in the capital city of Monrovia for many years. Tubman Methodist Mission School in Gbarnga had a large building that served many purposes including that of a gymnasium. It was the only one of its kind in the upcountry. When school was in session Gbarnga was the basketball center for upcountry Liberia. The season would culminate with an annual basketball tournament that drew teams from many of the upcountry schools. 1968
