As explained in a previous submission, the Chilean Government supported the creation of Small Farmer Committees during the 1960's to facilitate access to agricultural management and credit for small farmers. This photo was taken after one of the organizational meetings I participated in of the Small Farm Committee of Rucacura, a Mapuche Indian reservation near the Rio Tolten in Southern Chile. The leader of the committee was Sabino Huichaqueo, the man standing at the left of the group.
