I caught this little girl in mid-air, purse in hand, chasing after the posada, the patrón saint procession through the pueblita of San Jose. Posadas tend to be somber affairs, participants chanting with low voices, pacing slowly and reverently along the dirt road, the virgin’s image carried on a gigantic plaque decorated with yellow carnations, leading the parade. So this child’s light, airy glee struck me - especially as I was waiting (impatiently) for the parade to end, and for the citizens to get into the Ejido hall so we could begin our Agenda 21 community forum.
