Photo Description	In this photo, I had just begun my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer a week prior. I was fascinated by all of the activities they had during the "Fiestas Patronales", or Patron Saint Festivals. The festivities are compared to the U.S.'s county fairs. This particular activity invited teams of up to five or six people to gather and see if they could reach the bag of money at the top of a pole covered with pig lard. The local boy photographed came from one of the poorest families in the town and tried his hardest to get the money; however, he and his team were unsuccessful as he as the climber tried to reach up 'solo', or alone. The winning team was strategic: they formed a pole of boys - one standing on top of the next's shoulders so as to avoid the slippery pig lard.
