Photo Description	This photo was taken in the open courtyard at the Waterberg Primary School in Ongombombonde, Namibia (Otjozondjupa Region) on November 24, 2009. As a small rural village, there only form of trash collection was through the dedicated work of a local "tate" (or father). The previous volunteer at my site had worked to get old oil bins donated to the school for trash receptacle. She and the children of the Window of Hope (UNICEF's HIV/AIDS education course) decorated and painted the bins to brighten up the school grounds and foster an understanding of throwing away trash. Several times a week the Tate came by the school to empty the trash and take it to the nearest town for dumping. In this photo, some children are helping to empty the trash bin into the donkey cart "garbage truck." The use of these bins significantly cleaned up the school grounds and were not only helpful as a means to encourage environmental awareness and responsibility, but they also brightened up the school yard.
