As a Healthy Schools Volunteer in Guatemala, I am in charge of implementing this program in 35 different schools. My job is to train all the school principles and teachers in what types of health lessons to teach the children and also how to write grants and look for monies to fund infrastructure projects, like building bathrooms or introducing water into a school, for example.
These children wanted to take a photo because they were proud for completing one of the steps to becoming certified. They had just finished their Healthy Corners, which is where they practice their personal hygiene in the classroom. I am holding two kids who wanted to feel like they were flying!
