In Herero tradition, weddings are week-long (or longer) events. Throughout the duration of the festivities, the bride is kept hidden inside a house on the homestead, her face hidden beneath a veil. On the last day of the celebration, the female friends and family of the bride make a procession into the house to "fetch" the bride, and present her to her groom. In this photo, Herero women in traditional dress are moving toward the bride's house to bring her outside and unite her with her husband in front of all of the guests.
