My students (all future English teachers) at the Humanitarian Pedagogical College dance an Irish jig. Our celebration included a play, skits, songs, trivia, and this dance. My students loved to dance, but I am not a dance instructor and the only video I had of anything close to Irish dancing was from the movie Titanic (when they are at the party in the hull of the ship). My students replayed that clip hundreds of times and designed their own dance to the tune of Riverdance (which was the only Irish music I had on hand). The dance was a success, though I think they enjoyed the pinching more. That lasted for a week afterwards. April 10, 2009, Aksukent, Kazakhstan.
