This photo was taken in August, 2011 in Qinghai, China at Qinghai Lake, one of China's largest saltwater lakes. PCVs were visiting Qinghai Lake when they were invited to a local family's home to sample some local foods. In the photo, PCVs are drinking yak milk tea. Other local foods included yak yogurt and tsampa, a barley flour mixed with the last bit of butter tea into a soft dough. It’s eaten for the same purpose as rice in the rest of China — at the end of a meal, to ensure that everyone gets full.
