Photo Description	Semana Santa (Holy Week) is celebrated all throughout Mexico, from large cities to small pueblitos. Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Easter Saturday), along with the following week of Pascua, is celebrated as a national holiday. On Good Friday of Semana Santa, the Procession of Silence winds through the main part of town in absolute silence, save the slow cadence of a drumbeat. In this photo, hooded members of various catholic organizations carry life-size statues from their worship centers in Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico. The hoods originated in 15th century Europe as a guarantee of anonymity and sign of humility and penitence.
