Photo Description	The people seen here are part of large farming family from a small pueblito in Mexico. They go out together to their milpa in the country every Sunday to do whatever is needed to raise maize, peppers, beans, squash, and marigolds (for religious celebrations) on their small area of farmland. Whatever is left after personal consumption is sold in local markets. Various foods are continuously cooked and eaten throughout the day of work. This woman is making tortillas from the corn she grew, cut, and soaked in water to make her masa. Here she hand shapes the tortillas to cook on the hot comal behind her. She’ll next be hacking brush with her machete and heels. The woman to the left grinds roasted peppers and tomatoes in a basalt mocajete to make fresh salsa. Corn is being roasted as well (helote), to be eaten with mayonnaise and chili powder.
