This was taken September 1990 at sunrise near Bandipur, Nepal, about mid-way along Nepal's Himalayas. The sun hits the highest points first, which is the Himals, then the valley later. This picture was taken at about 5,000 ft elevation--the Himals are roughly 28,000 feet tall, and about 50 miles away. You can see hills and clouds in the valley BELOW this location. When the clouds burn off later, you can see villages and rivers down below!
