Photo Description	This photo was taken on 5/29/2008 in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, during the first national English teachers symposium. It shows my wife and I and two of the English teachers from our rural village of Ambatofinandrahana. We nominated them to participate in the symposium and so they received funding that allowed them to make the trip. It was an excellent opportunity for their professional development and great recognition for their hard work over the years. During the symposium, we were also able to share with teachers from all over Madagascar about how the American educational system compared to the Malagasy educational system, especially when we were on a panel in one of the sessions. After the symposium, both of our counterparts came back to Ambatofinandrahana with energy and many ideas for the English teachers association we helped to start in our village.
