This photo was taken at Operation Youth Quake, a non-profit located just north of Roseau, Dominica. The photo shows one of the youth of OYQ walking across a new beam during the construction of a new hen house funded by USAID. An adjacent coop was also built for hens to lay eggs and teach disadvantaged children husbandry skills. The new pen houses chicks to restock the coop. The children, staff, and myself worked on the project to build a sense of appreciation of labor and the rewards that come from it. The coop was painted by the children with apartment numbers for the hens. Eggs are harvested by the children for educational, food and income purposes.
