On this day I did a lesson about erosion and my assistant program director came to observe me. She took this photo. This community, Guanacastillo, has a river they use for everything. It was an important lesson for them. We built a mountain of dirt and, with a twig, made some "rivers". We observed how wide those "rivers" were, then we made it rain by slowly pouring water over the top of the mountain. The children were able to observe how quickly the land alongside the rivers eroded without the protection of tree roots. The drew pictures and wrote their observations in their notebooks.
