Photo Description	A mature loggerhead sea turtle is released on the beach of São Francisco on the island of Santiago. The turtle was rescued from poachers at the start of the nesting season (June 2011) by the Maritime Police at Gamboa beach in Praia, the capital city. PCV Jon E. Berg served as the project manager for the “Nha Terra” campaign, an island-wide campaign with the goal of reducing the consumption of sea turtle meat, on behalf of TAOLA (Cape Verde Sea Turtle Protection Network).
