During my two year service at school in Ukraine, I dedicated much of my time to teaching the students about the world in which we live. Through the World Wise Schools program, we were able to create a pen-pal exchange with an elementary school in Corbett, Oregon. This proved successful, not only in the intercultural relationships that it formed, but also in the expansion of school resources and activities. Our school received a shipment of candies and Halloween decorations from our stateside pen pals, and the children were very appreciative to be able to celebrate this classic American holiday. In this photograph, students of our "Yellow Submarine English Club" are preparing to take a picture for a thank you card to be sent to the students at Corbett Elementary. We learned that for all that we have, and all the we receive, it is most important to show our gratitude to others.
