In July 2007, Peace Corps Volunteers in Lesotho cooperated with Professor Jane Hale and a literacy project out of Brandeis University to encourage parents to read to young children. This photo was taken in Maseru on a day when awards were given to Basotho children and adults who had submitted original stories. Several of the winning stories were later published and distributed to waiting rooms in hospitals health around the country. Dressed in traditional "seshoeshoe" dress, I am doing my best to read books in the Sesotho language to children.
