Photo Description	I helped my town, Nueva Esperanza, secure a grant from Pfizer Pharmeceutical. Pfizer donated all the building materials for a health clinic and sent doctors and medicine for the opening. We had to build it. The response from my town was remarkable! Every weekend over 30 men came out to work and the women went around collecting donations so that they could give everybody who worked free lunch and cafecito (coffee with a snack!). People were so proud to be a part of this, and the representatives from Pfizer said that in all the towns they had worked in in Costa Rica, they'd never seen such committed, cheerful, hard workers. They said our clinic was the best one they'd ever built, and I know that the people in my town are so happy and grateful for the opportunity. Nueva Esperanza is a very humble town and I don't think they ever could have raised the money on their own to build the clinic. But so many of the men have the technical knowledge to actually do construction work, and everybody had the willingness do give what they could to make this happen. I think watching this dream become a reality was the most wonderful part of my service.
