If you line up 4 year olds in just about any country in the world, you get as many poses - shy, silly, naughty, thumb-suckers. In the village of Mt. Moorosi (Quthing region of LESOTHO) in April 2007, though, my little neighbor was one of the kids. As mundane as it sounds, there were only a small percent of kids in the village who could afford new shoes and the required carton of milk and hard boiled egg for lunch. (Linkonyana is the Sesotho word for "pre-schoolers".)
