Here, I'm teaching at a village health team training about diarrhea and dehydration and how to prepare oral rehydration solution (ORS). The village health team program is an initiative of the Ministry of Health to train local residents in preventative health education so that they can return and teach their communities. Each VHT Member monitors 25-30 homes and discusses topics of HIV/AIDS, malaria, diarrheal illnesses, pneumonia, and child and maternal health among others. We held trainings at the village level to help alleviate the challenges of transport for participants. It was a particularly hot day, so the participants requested that we move the training outside from the church under the shade of a large tree. The training was held in Kisoga village in Mukono District in July 2010. Because a Ugandan woman's work is never done, mothers often brought their young children along to the training.
