This photo was taken at an educational institution known as "La Escuelita Que Yo Quiero" (The School That I Want). The school is held on Saturday mornings, and provides non-traditional instruction in personal development, health and hygiene for children living in an impoverished neighborhood in Paraguay, South America. In this picture, students are eating a snack consisting of tomato, lettuce and cheese sandwiches and fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. All of the fruit and vegetables come from the school garden. The school is run by a retired teacher and several volunteers from the community. It is voluntary for the students, but attendance is always high, albeit sporadic due to the fact that the children are expected to work selling empanadas and remedial herbs to raise money for their families.
