While serving in the village of Meri, in the extreme north region in Cameroon, I started a women’s soy farming group. The group consisted of some of the most dynamic women I knew in the village. To pass the time while we worked, they would teach me songs from church in Mufu, the local dialect. This picture was taken in 2009, of the women working in the field weeding. When we worked we would form a line and move along the field together. I would have a hard time keeping up with them so the women on either side of me would always help me out.
