Easter is a special time in Ukraine. While still in pre-service training, my cluster and I were taken by our language and cultural facilitator to the local art school in our village. We were told we would paint eggs. We were not told it would take over 3 hours. The Ukrainian people take great pride in their Pysanky (Easter Eggs) and so there is a well followed technique as well as accepted designs. We knew neither and received both gentle guidance from the teacher and many giggles from the students. Towering over our eggs is the Pasca, a cake only made (then blessed and eaten) during Easter.
