In Togo, almost no one speaks French, the official language, at home. They speak their local tribe languages. In kindergarten in Togo all the kids learn is French so that they can go on to school. I worked with the kindergarten class at Ecole Primaire Public de Limamwa doing fun little art projects every few weeks. When the kids were learning the words for body parts (eye, ear, nose, leg, arm, etc.), I made play-doh and the kids made little people and faces, and started naming off their new vocabulary words.
