I took this photo of fellow Volunteer in her village on June 17, 2010. Her host family was helping her apply henna, a local beauty treatment that many women apply in the village before wedding and naming ceremonies. A paste of crushed roots and dye are applied to the feet and/or hands and then wrapped in bags for several hours until the skin is dyed a dark brown/black in a design made by the women. Her feet turned out beautifully.
