Walking around my site during my second month there in October, 2009, I happened to have my camera on me taking pictures of all the new and beautiful things Shilla, Ancash, Peru had to offer, when I came upon my host sister (20 years old at the time) with her daughter, my host niece (3 years old) riding a burro beside her. Coincidentally, as it was the evening, they were coming home from working in the chacra (fields) all day, harvesting potatoes, and getting grass for the guinea pigs to eat at home. I shouted at them from afar, zoomed in on my camera and caught their beautiful smiles beaming back at me. I felt like I was coming home too.
