San Benito Poite is one of the most remote villages in Belize. It is about 40 miles from the nearest district town, and about 3 miles from the border with Guatemala. The town where I served was about 7 hours from here (on a good day in the dry season in a vehicle); I took this photo in August 2005 during my pre-service training. The children in this photo are hanging around the "house" (a former school room) where the Volunteer in the village lived.
