This photo was taken in July 2010 at the annual Nor Yauyos Agricultural Fair in the Peruvian Andes. As part of the fair, several towns in the region presented exhibitions of all the varieties of potatoes that they grow; while in America we might think of potatoes as dull, brown bulbs, this exhibit threw my American notions of the potato to the wind. The color, variety, and even beauty of the different types of potatoes grown in this region was absolutely breathtaking.
