I took this picture with a tripod and timer, so that's why I'm in it too. The community work party from San Luis, a Shaur community located near Tiasha, Morona-Santiago, Ecuador, is constructing part of a 7 km potable water pipeline. Tiasha was a community of 1500 made up mostly of Mestizo Colonos from the Ecuadorian Sierras and Coastal regions attempting to colonize the Ecauadorian Amazon. Tiasha was also a strategic military cuartel near Peru, their archenemy. A very complex social environment. At least they had a potable water supply when I left. August 1984.
