I chose this photo taken 25 March 2008 in room 5 of the Ewarton Health Centre, not for its technical merits, but because it documents one of those turning point days. Late in August of 2007 I arrived in St. Catherine. My first assignment was to create a power point presentation for the Ministry of Health to replace an outdated overhead transparency platform. Once that was finished, the next task was to train the Health Education Officers. The project morphed into a program that included Basic School Teachers and Parents from the same area. To expedite the acquisition of equipment and materials, a few members of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health joined forces to form Step Up Now (SUN). When I left the Ewarton area in August 2009, SUN had an active training room and had placed 80 computers in the Ewarton area. Trainers and teachers were using IT to educate.
