About mid-way through pre-service training was Halloween. A lot of people in our group really loved the holiday, and we knew we wanted to celebrate it with Macedonians in country. We decided to each go as a US holiday, including: Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. The week prior to Halloween we worked hard on our costumes, utilizing all the resources that our small town had to offer, and trying to explain to our LCF Maja (in green, St. Patrick’s Day) why on Earth she had to look like that. In the end, the costumes looked great and we learned how to work with limited resources and host country nationals learned a little bit about Halloween and other major American holidays!
