In this photo young indigenous men from the high school where I worked are seen dancing together. If you look in the center of the circle you can see several thermoses filled with "chicha" a corn-based, alcoholic beverage which is made during the weeks leading up to the annual carnival event held each February. The young men dance together in a circle before breaking up and asking the young women of the community to dance. This is on the third and last day of the event which culminates in the entire community participating in a water and mud fight. The costumes they wear were created from donations generated during Peace Corps activities.
