July 2010, Republic of Panama
About 25 Volunteers and their community counterparts from all over the country met for the Business Plan Seminar. The ideas for the plans were as diverse as the regions represented. Mario, the president of the cooperative came with me and we began to put together a plan to sell the coffee produced by the members to other indigenous people in the province. Once completed, the document will be presented to a variety of Government Agencies and institutions.
The seminar was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the process of formally presenting an idea, utilizing local resources and establishing a relationship with the regional institutions. In this image, I am sitting next to a community counterpart, Mario, at the business plan seminar with shirts made with the traditional design of the indigenous Ngäbe people.
