When I think of Morocco, my country of service, a number of things come to mind, including cats. I have very fond memories of walking through the ancient medinas in Morocco and being greeted by street cats. Moroccans have a delicate relationship with cats. While many people are afraid of them, they are loved and respected for their rodent hunting skills, cleanliness, poise and beauty. While they make the perfect subject for a Moroccan Medina photograph, cats are difficult subjects because they move so often, but these sleepy cats were the perfect subject. They are posed next to leather carpet bags. The carpets are from the region and the leather, I'm told, comes from Fez. These beautiful bags are very popular in the region.
