Photo Description	The month before Indonesia's Independence Day, there are many different activities that go on within the villages. Here, they dug a hole, placed a massive bamboo pole into the ground (approximately two stories high) and covered it in grease. At the the top, they hung different prizes such as a basket, towel, and shirt. The goal was to have someone get to the top and retrieve all the items. Because I am much taller than an Indonesian in the area, I was the base and had to hold multiple kids while they tried to climb the bamboo pole.
