Photo taken from plane as we arrived in Malta, November, 1991. This shows the typical limestone construction of all buildings and the arid nature of the island. This was not the growing season, so the farms look barren. Fields are separated by stone "fences." Malta is an archipelago of five islands right in the middle of the Mediterranean. Many of the exquisite buildings date back to the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes, and Malta, who arrived in the middle of the 16th century.
