A retired American judge vacationed frequently on Anguilla in the 1980's. He had been a big supporter of softball in the US and wanted to do the same on Anguilla. He organized a league of both men and women teams. The Stoney Ground Rockies were a group of kids from the Stoney Ground region of Anguilla, where a youth group was already established. I worked with them as coach and helped them to develop the skills needed to play the game. It remained popular for many years with teams visiting other islands to play tournaments. The government even developed a lighted field for teams to be able to play at night.
