I took this photo during a Hygiene Education Seminar I was conducting in my site of Concepcion del Sur, Santa Barbara, Honduras in 2009. I invented a game to drive home the importance of hand washing, where one student started as a "germ" on one side of the lot, and all the others needed to run from the other side to touch the fence before they got tagged. All those who had been tagged then "had germs" too, and the game ran several times until everyone "had germs." They then each showed the proper way to wash their hands and discussed how easy it was for germs to spread. It was a great way to have fun while getting across the idea of how germs spread.
