This region of southern Ukraine was formerly called Bessarabia, and I have been told that there are more than 30 ethnic groups or cultures in Odessa Oblast. This would include Ukrainian, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Roma, Turkish, and Moldavan, among others.
