Riders take a dangerous fall during the Todos Santos Feria in the Western highlands of Guatemala. Todos Santos Cuchumatan hosts a horse race every Nov. 1 (All Saints Day). The riders and horses are typically intoxicated as they ride back and forth along a half-mile stretch. Town legend has it that the Spaniards told Todosanteros that if they rode horses they would die. The Todosanteros believed the myth until one drunken Todosantero decided to steal a Spaniard’s horse and ride through town. Now, it’s a yearly tradition that attracts tourists from all over the world.
